Mel Washington
Chief Operating Officer
Joined the Lawyers Committee in 2003

Mel Washington is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for the Lawyers Committee. In this capacity he is responsible for Finance and Administration, Human Resources, and Information Services. He is also the staff liaison to the Board’s Audit and Budget Committee.

Before joining the Lawyers Committee, Mel has held executive level positions in Finance, Operations, and Strategy and Planning in the financial services and telecommunications sectors. His career includes successful stints with American Telephone & Telegraph, Salomon Brothers, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan Chase and, most recently, Citibank. Mel has been actively involved with non-profits throughout his career, and has served on the Boards of several organizations in the New City Area. He is currently on the Board of Hale House and The Children’s Village, where he served as Chairman for the past five years.

Mel holds a B.S. from Howard University in Washington D.C. and a M.B.A. from New York University.
