Ken Hurwitz
Senior Associate, International Justice Program
Joined the Lawyers Committee in 1998

As a Senior Associate in the Lawyers Committee’s International Justice Program, Ken has helped to assure legal accountability for serious human rights violations wherever they may occur, through work in support of the International Criminal Court, domestic litigation and other justice initiatives. Since September 11, Ken has coordinated Lawyers Committee work on a host of key international justice issues including the proposals regarding military tribunals and the detention of alleged Taliban and al Qaeda members at Guantánamo Bay.

Before joining the the Lawyers Committee, Ken worked from 1985 to 1991 as a corporate and commercial attorney at the New York law firm Proskauer Rose LLP. From 1991 to 1998, he served as associate general counsel for a New York-based international banking and shipping group, where his responsibilities included international finance, tax planning, admiralty law, real estate and litigation management.

Ken is a graduate of the NYU School of Law (1985) and the Teachers College at Columbia University (1975).
