Fiona Doherty
Senior Associate, U.S. Law and Security Program; Human Rights Defenders Program
Joined the Lawyers Committee in 2001

As a senior associate in the U.S. Law and Security Program, Fiona works to ensure that U.S. policies relating to counter-terrorism and national security incorporate human rights protections. Fiona also spends part of her time in the Human Rights Defenders Program, working on human rights issues in Northern Ireland.

Prior to joining the Lawyers Committee, Fiona received a Bernstein fellowship from Yale Law School to work for a year at the Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ), a human rights organization in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Before that, she was a law clerk for the Honorable Martha Craig Daughtrey on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Fiona graduated with highest honors from the University of Virginia (1996) and from Yale Law School (1999).
